How to deal with arguing roommates?

Can anyone give me some tips on how to mediate arguments between my roommates? There is a lot of growing tension in the apartment we share together and I would rather settle things immediately than let things escalate (as it's already been doing). We still have another 4 months or so before the lease ends and I don't want to let things get to the point where there's a huge cat fight.
