Can I request that my eyes are not taped shut during surgery?

Best thing would be to ask the surgeon, if necessary explain why. I can see no reason why the would essentially need to be taped shut. Its not done all the time, its worth asking because they may not even have any intention of doing it. It might sound silly asking but people have questions and requests like this all the time, surgeons are usually very willing to accomodate.
